Farewell to our Star store – you will be missed!

After our long-standing presence at Sydney’s iconic The Star, the time has come to move on. As The Star commences redevelopment, resulting renovations mean that our Zumbo Patisserie store at The Star will be serving up its last treats on the 31st of August 2018.

Our Star location launched at the end of 2010, originating as a concept store which resonated all things Zumbo. It went on to host our Zumbo dessert train, serving up exclusive Zumbo desserts in a sushi-train inspired setting. Our presence was later transformed into an open-plan kiosk, stocking all our signature sweets ever since. Located just outside the Lyric Theatre, we have satisfied the sweet tooth theater-goers for many years. Staying open until midnight most nights to fulfill all kinds of late-night sugar cravings.

Huge shout out to our wonderful staff at the Star, particularly our fabulous managers Monique and Maria, who did such a great job.
We will greatly miss bringing sweet, sweet delight to our Star customers but we’d like to thank you all for the ongoing support and loyalty over the years – you’re all stars! We hope to serve you in one of our other stores, where our fabulous Star staff will relocate to – the nearest being Balmain or Circular Quay. We also have an exciting range of pop-ups in the works, keep an eye out for upcoming locations and events on our website here: https://www.zumbo.com.au/zumbo-pop-up/

A big thank you to our biggest fans, here are a few of our favourites:

“The Star now shines a little brighter – Zumbo has arrived. Literally spelled out in lights, Adriano Zumbo is a name synonymous with the sweeter things in life. He’s probably most famous for his ludicrously divine macaroons (dare I suggest he’s the man behind the recent macaroon revival?), but visiting his new digs at The Star, you’ll soon appreciate all the other sugary delicacies that make up his legend.
The store is a riot of candy colours – it’s almost like you’re stepping into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. The desserts are presented in sealed pods, while the macaroons are encased in ‘break-in-case-of-emergency’ boxes. It was all I could do not to smash them! A helpful staff member is on hand to take your order (and prevent any rash action), and soon you’ll be able to trundle in the other end of the store and gorge yourself at the dessert train. Now THAT will be a sight to see.”

“The original! Where we first found Zumbo on a holiday from Melbourne and the reason we went back to Sydney many a time! It was the location of ‘Grandmother’s Soap’ and a macaroon that had lavender and chilli! Oh and the endless blueberry soft serve at the dessert train…”

“Picked up some Easter goodies from The Star today. A special treat were the hot cross bun Zumbarons. Absolutely delicious. The sales girl was lovely and packaged everything so carefully.”

“It’s a sweet life and when you visit Adriano Zumbo it’s as if you’ve died and gone to a sweet version of heaven. Always seems they have put a lot of love and effort into not only the baking of their products but the serving. Thank you, Adriano Zumbo and your team.”

“Went here on Saturday night. Had the gluten free macaroons. All I can say is – AMAZING! The staff were really friendly and helpful with helping us choose flavours. The caramel popcorn macaroons were out of this world! The Nutella and caramel ones were also amazing! Highly recommended for those who have a sweet tooth!”

“We visited for the first time and absolutely loved the macarons. We were served by a friendly helpful gentleman who seemed to really be enjoying his job. At almost 10pm we were surprised at the variety in the cabinet. Its definitely a must visit if you are in Sydney.”
